Health Support

Health support at SIU is responsive, dynamic and structured. Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC), attached to Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), combines cutting-edge technology with a globally trained medical team to provide equitable healthcare for urban and rural communities. Symbiosis has been providing local community services through the Symbiosis Community Outreach Programme and Extension (SCOPE) for many years now, and these services are enhanced through the hospital. The SUHRC is a 900 bed tertiary care hospital with all the basic specialties as well as select super specialties like Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Neurology.

Sports and Fitness

The university also provides access to state-of-the-art recreational and wellness centres. Apart from indoor and outdoor fitness centres, the campus also houses tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, futsal courts, football field, cricket field, indoor badminton hall, squash courts, gymnasiums, swimming pools, as well as yoga and aerobic studios with meditation halls. It also conducts health awareness lectures on various healthcare related issues and online counseling on health, diet and lifestyle related issues.

Nature Walks

Symbiosis International University is conscious of the adverse aspects of development and benefits of ecological diversity for sustainable development. As one of the top universities in India, SIU lays a strong emphasis on building responsibility for all to conserve and enhance the biodiversity landscape. As a part of this initiative, the university has established a Biodiversity Committee to nurture biodiversity, create awareness through education, foster the spirit of respect for nature amidst human interaction with environment, and ensure conservation of key site areas of the University campus.

Internationalization at SIU

Internationalization is an integral part of life at Symbiosis. With students from over 85 countries SIU brings together a wide range of cultures, languages, and worldviews within one academic community. The diverse cosmopolitan environment contributes a global character to campus life, where interactions extend beyond classrooms and become a part of everyday experience. SIU’s guiding philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, the world is one family, has resulted in cultural diversity being a lived reality. Students learn alongside peers from different national, social, and cultural backgrounds, building understanding through academic engagement and daily interaction. The Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) plays a central role in supporting international students ensuring that they are able to integrate smoothly into university life while remaining connected to their own cultural identities.

Cultural and Social Vibrancy

With students from all the states of India as well as over 85 countries, Symbiosis offers a space where rich cultural heritage finds expression in multiple cultural events, festivals, and academic gatherings hosted by the university throughout the year. Students with backgrounds in multiple disciplines, thrive in an environment of intercultural exchange both as formal and informal engagements. Music, art, dance, theater, film, literary festivals, academic discussions, social initiatives, all contribute to a dynamic cultural and socially vibrant campus ambience.

Library

The Central Library at SIU Libraries houses an impressive collection of books, journals and other resources for the entire Symbiosis community. SIU has implemented KOHA integrated library Management software for all its constituent units. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) of books and other reading material are accessible from any location. OPAC consists of books, AV material, print journals and magazines. The University subscribes 283293 e-books for their users. SIU also subscribes to a total of 164 online databases such as EBSCO, Emerald, Scopus, Web of Science, JSTOR, Manupatra, Kluwer, WARC, among others.

Sandipani Leadership Development Center

The Rotary Peace Center at Symbiosis International University (RPC@SIU) is housed in the Sandipani Leadership Development Center. With multiple meeting and conference rooms of varying capacities, designed to support academic sessions, conferences, and formal gatherings, this is where the classes of the RPC@SIU will be conducted. These spaces are equipped with modern audio-visual infrastructure and presentation systems suitable for executive-level programs.

Residential facilities for the Fellows

Fellows will be accommodated at Sandipani Hometel, located in the Lavale campus. The suites are designed with a spectacular sit-out balcony, overlooking the surrounding hills. With comfort and functionality in mind, each suit is equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, a flat-screen TV with satellite package, electric kettle with tea/coffee arrangements, attached bathrooms, cupboards with separate luggage area, and a living space with sofas.

Dining

The Sandipani Hometel offers multi-cuisine meals in a comfortable indoor setting with wooden interiors and group seating at Mkahawa Café (07:30 – 22:30 hrs). Cibo Bello (17:30 – 22:30hrs) serves live, wood-fired pizzas with a crisp crust, in an open air seating. Located at the Sandipani Leadership Development Centre, The Kitchen provides tea, coffee, and snacks in a café-style space, and can also host small gatherings.
